Where we’ve been…

What can I say? We’ve been busy.

We’ve pretty much been on the go for the last month. I’m looking forward to things slowing down.  The last two weekends have been spent away from home, so I think I am going to enjoy just hanging around here this weekend.

Two weeks ago we went to Knoxville to visit some friends. We spent the weekend at their house. Four adults+9 kids+1 house= lots of fun! We had an absolutely wonderful time, and hope to get to do it again some time in the coming months.

Last weekend The Knight and I went on a retreat with some friends. We rented a beach house, and spent the entire weekend talking, listening to Bible studies, and just hanging out with good friends. It was very intense, but definitely needed.

It’s amazing what God will say to you when you go away and just focus on spending time with Him. It was a very thought-provoking time and I’m still processing everything that happened.  I hope we get to do it again in the spring. The Knight and I really needed it, and enjoyed it.

What’s going on…

Sorry I haven’t been able to post about our vacation yet. Things have been pretty crazy around here lately.

I’ve started backing helping teach adult Sunday School. It’s a small class, and I will be teaching with someone else. But it feels good to be teaching again. It’s been a long time since I’ve done it.

I’ve also been working with my dad some to get a coop ready. I found a deal on Craigslist that I am hoping will work out. If it does we will have six hens almost ready for laying. So hopefully before too long we’ll have some fresh eggs to eat!

Fall means farms and animals…

I’m so excited! Next weekend we are going to the Fall Farm Festival at a farm in our area! I know that may not be the most exciting thing to most of you, but we really enjoy it, and we haven’t been able to go the last two years. So this is really special to us.

They are having hayrides, a corn maze, and you can get a tour of the animals and the farm. They also sell pumpkins! Each one of the kids will be getting one, and I am going to pick up one or two pie-sized ones to cook and freeze. (I can almost smell the pumpkin pound cake and pies now.)  The farm also has a small roadside stand where you can buy preserves and all kinds of other stuff.

Then the next day we are planning on going to the state fair. The kids are looking forward to riding some rides and we’re all wanting to check out the animals at the livestock exhibitions. I’m really wanting to look at the different breeds of chickens to check out which kinds to get this coming spring.

I think it’s going to be a great time. I sure hope so! I’ll try and let you know how it turns out.
